The Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) is an organization that offers faculty asynchronous courses on how to teach effectively in both face-to-face and online course environments. To learn more about ACUE course content and the course-taker experience, you can attend an聽.

Program Info

Motivate students, deepen their understanding, and help them take greater ownership of their learning using visualization tools in "ACUE鈥檚 Inspiring Inquiry and Lifelong Learning in Your Online Course." This course hones instructors' ability to provide clear directions and explanations for complex topics and assignments and develop self-directed learners in the online learning environment.

This is a fully online, asynchronous program (with a one-hour synchronous session on Monday, September 23rd from noon to 1:30 p.m.) that runs from September 23rd until December 8th. Faculty learners have the flexibility to complete each module at days and times that fit their schedules. Participants will spend 2 to 3 hours each week engaging with module content, participating in virtual discussions, implementing new practices, and completing reflection assignments.

Faculty eligibility criteria include:

  • those able to protect roughly聽3 hours per week
  • comfortable using Canvas as a learner
  • must be聽employed聽at 快活林性息聽and teaching a course in which they can implement new strategies
  • faculty at all ranks (tenure-track and lecturers)聽and experience level (novice and senior聽level faculty) are welcome to apply
  • this course is for motivated faculty who are open to joining an iterative and collaborative process of聽taking their teaching to the next level

Funding of $200 will be available to faculty who complete the program.

This microcredential program will deliver tools and resources to motivate students, deepen their understanding, and help them take greater ownership of their learning through the following six modules:

  • Motivating Students Online
  • Providing Clear Directions and Explanations in Online Courses
  • Integrating Visualization Tools in Online Courses
  • Using Data and Feedback to Improve Online Teaching
  • Using Advanced Questioning in Online Courses
  • Developing Self-Directed Online Learners

Completing this course is one step toward becoming certified in ACUE's Effective Teaching Practice Framework, endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE). Educators who complete the requirements for this program earn a microcredential in 鈥淚nspiring Inquiry and Lifelong Learning in Your Online Course.鈥 This microcredential may be utilized in meeting partial requirements necessary to earn the American Council on Education (ACE) endorsed Certificate in Effective College Instruction.
