Accessibility and Universal Design

快活林性息 is committed to making sure that campus technology and materials are accessible to everyone.听Accessibility听means documents, websites, Canvas, flyers, infographics, emails, social media, or multimedia; content creators should always consider accessibility best practices to create accessible and user-friendly content for everyone.听Universal Design听means design for everyone to: acquire the听same听information, engage in the听same听interactions, and enjoy the听same听services.听All CSU programs, services and activities should be accessible to all students, staff, faculty and the general public. This encompasses all technology products used to deliver academic programs and services, student services, information technology services and auxiliary programs and services.听OPTIONAL:听Participants that pass the听Accessibility and Universal Design听course are eligible to be awarded a Certificate of Completion.听
Academic Accessible Documents

This course provides an overview of creating accessible content in Canvas and documents, making information readily available for assistive technology. When accessibility is considered during the design process, screen readers can easily navigate the content. Accessibility (A11y) will benefit people with disabilities and improve overall usability for听all students. This course contains accessible design how-to instructions to make your course materials accessible for all students. It includes an explanation of Canvas Pages, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat PDF, and examples of describing simple and complex images. This accessibility course is available to all faculty members and department support staff who assist with making the course materials accessible.听
Social Media Accessibility

Social media platforms are powerful tools for communication, information sharing, and community building. However, ensuring accessibility on social media is essential to create an inclusive digital environment where everyone, including individuals with disabilities, can fully engage with content.听To learn more about Social Media Accessibility features, best practices, resources, presentation slides, and training video recorded.
STEM Accessibility

Content created using LaTeX CAN be fully accessible. Put your LaTeX content into Canvas or export it to other formats for accessible results. The STEM Accessibility Canvas course contains accessible design how-to instructions to make your course materials accessible for all students. It includes an explanation of Canvas Pages, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat PDF, LaTeX, and Markdown for STEM, how to convert handwritten to digitized equations, and examples of describing simple and complex images. This accessibility course is available to all faculty members and department support staff who assist with making the course materials accessible.听
WebAIM Accessible Document Training

This training course is available to all CSU employees, and it provides the core听fundamentals for creating听accessible Word and听PowerPoint documents as well as some high-level听best practices in regards to听PDF documents.听An听optional听Excel module has been added to the course.听
What you need to know about this course:
- It consists of four self-paced online modules.听鈥婨ach module has a series of sections that include quizzes and an open book exam.
- Time dedication required is between 2 to 4 hours per module and听participants have a total of 180 business days (minus holidays) to complete all modules.
- After successfully completing the course, a听certificate of completion will be sent to the participant.
