The Matador Patrol is a student-operated public service organization under the guidance of the Department of Police Services. Matador Patrol members provide free personal safety escorts for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus.听

Matador Patrol members wear easily recognizable uniforms that are red, white and black in color-do not be alarmed听if you find a Matador Patrol member asking you if you would like to be escorted to your next destination! Matador Patrol members are community service assistants who are proactive, energetic and have the best of intentions of ensuring 快活林性息 maintains that reputation as a safe academic community.

Call Us For a Safety Escort

We provide free personal safety escorts for students, faculty ,staff, and visitors from听Monday-Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.听during the Fall and Spring semesters.听You can request a safety escort by calling 818-677-5042 or 5048, from a campus phone extension听5042 or 5048.听

NOTE: A police officer is available after 10:30 p.m. and all other times when the Matador Patrol is not on duty.听

What You Need When Calling Matador Patrol

When requesting a Matador Patrol escort, please provide the dispatcher with the following four pieces of information:

听 1) 听your name
听 2) 听your location
听 3) 听a contact number
听 4) 听your destination

About the Matador Patrol

More than twenty years ago a group of volunteers from the ranks of the University's fraternities and athletic programs was utilized to augment the University's Police Department by providing the security services for the campus community. What was once a small group of students has become a community service organization within the department of Police Services, known as the Matador Patrol.

Over the years, the Matador Patrol Unit of the Department of Police Services has taken on additional responsibilities such as providing the University Park Apartments complex with safety patrols, assisting in special event staffing and participating in a safety watch around the University Library. Members of Matador Patrol, however, remain true to their founding principle of providing quality personal safety escorts to the University's community.

All members of the Matador Patrol are involved in a one-day, nine-hour basic training course. Topics include:

• Department Policies & Procedures
• Who's Who on campus
• Night Safety Escort Patrol techniques/procedures
• Residential Life Safety & Security Procedures
• Developing Effective Community Relations
• Aerosol Defense
