Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the 鈥淐ompany鈥) is excited to offer college students a unique opportunity to gain handson, real-world experience in gold mining. Our geology internship program provides students with a deeper understanding of the critical role minerals and mining play in our everyday lives. Interns will gain valuable field experience in geology within the mining industry, learning firsthand what it takes to extract the minerals essential to modern life.

Available Positions

Geology Intern (1 to 2 positions)

  • The purpose of this role is to support and work with the Golden Queen geology exploration team. 听The intern is responsible for collecting drillhole data, validating and processing the data, and performing geologic tests to guide future work on the project. 听 (Flexible Shift to be Determined)听

Qualifications

Candidates must have completed two years of study towards a BS in Geology or Earth Science

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older

Candidates must supply their own safety boots and must abide by all safety practices, policies, and procedures of the Company.

Program Duration

The geology internship program will begin on Monday, May 19, 2025 and end on or prior to Friday, August 29, 2025. Prior to employment, students must sign a statement agreeing that they will be terminated by the Company on or prior to August 29, 2025. Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC is an at-will employer and nothing in this letter should be considered a guarantee of employment.

Rate of Pay & Benefits

Temporary summer interns will not be eligible for group benefits or holiday pay.

Rate of pay for summer interns shall be paid at a rate of $25.00 per hour and will be paid at 1.5 times this rate for overtime worked.

Project Manager - Geophysical - Hybrid Work

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct non-invasive geophysical investigations听including but not limited to utility, underground storage tanks, abandoned oil wells, voids, and subsurface geologic features
  • Process and prepare geophysical data for reports
  • Hybrid work schedule combining remote, field, and office (expect travel two days per week to one of our offices (either the Orange County or the Los Angeles office) for the first year
  • Prepare documents and graphics for reports for review by lead geophysicist
  • Assist with writing proposals and reports
  • Assist with data collection for more complex geophysical investigations using seismic refraction, electrical resistivity, magnetics and ground penetrating radar methods
  • Flexible with daily field work ranging throughout Southern California (from Santa Barbara County to San Diego County)
  • Monthly out-of-town projects throughout the year
  • Must work well in a team setting
  • Must be able to carry at least 60lbs
  • Comfortable with field work in desert heat conditions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor鈥檚 or Master鈥檚 degree in Geology or Geophysics
  • Valid driver鈥檚 license with acceptable violation history
  • Self-motivated
  • Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software (ex. Microsoft Word/Excel, Google Docs/Sheets, MacOS Pages/Numbers)

Preferred Skills:

  • AutoCAD and basic GIS
  • Geophysical instruments such as GPR, EM-61, EM-31, G-858 walking magnetometer
  • Magnetics, seismic data collection (P-Wave seismic refraction, MASW/ ReMi/surface wave methods), electrical resistivity data collection, and ground penetrating radar methods

Instructional Support Technician II - Earth & Environmental Sciences

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,608 - $4,838 per month

Job Summary

Under general supervision by the Chair of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, the Instructional Support Technician (IST II) is expected to provide comprehensive support services to the department disciplines, which make extensive use of materials, supplies, and equipment in both undergraduate and graduate laboratories and instructional courses.

The interdisciplinary nature of the geosciences requires this individual to primarily work collaboratively with students and faculty within and outside our department. The incumbent must also be organized, an excellent communicator, and able to keep detailed and comprehensive records (e.g. safety, training, instrument operational procedures, equipment usage logs).

The primary purpose of this position is to implement a full range of assignments that support the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Projects require an increased depth of knowledge of EES, an understanding of laboratory techniques and methods, choosing suitable materials for related instructional needs, and the ability to operate and perform routine maintenance of scientific lab and field equipment.

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of:
    • Research methods and techniques commonly used in earth and environmental sciences.
    • Materials, supplies, and curriculum used in earth and environmental science laboratory and field environments.
    • Safety practices, procedures, rules, and precautions associated with scientific equipment, laboratory environment, and field working conditions.
  • Skill/Ability to:
    • Work with various individuals and groups of people across campus and in the community (e.g. students, faculty, staff, administrators, public) in a collegial and collaborative manner.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • Operate technical equipment related to earth and environmental sciences.
    • Adjust and perform simple maintenance of technical and scientific equipment related to earth and environmental sciences.
    • Troubleshoot and address challenges (e.g. research, teaching, laboratory, equipment) and resolve with creative solutions.
    • Manage the logistics of and planning, organizing, and scheduling field trips, classes, and outreach activities related to earth and environmental sciences.
    • Maintain department inventory and safety records.
    • Use computer technology, systems, and software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, technical software).

This position as staff geophysicist involves extensive field work including the geophysical tasks of installing & extracting long-period MT instrumentation and evaluating data, in addition to coordinating logistics and working with landowners. Trouble shooting is not unusual. Stations are on a 70 km spacing, so there is a lot of driving giving a road-warrior aspect to the job. A crew of two people typically works six days/week for 4 to 6 weeks between breaks. Essential requirements are a love and curiosity of the Earth, and the ability to work outdoors in all conditions and keep a good attitude. The ideal candidate is a recent graduate in the Earth Sciences who would benefit from a year immersed in data. A background in geophysics is helpful, but not required. US citizenship is required. A one-year commitment is requested. The MT Array is currently underway in the southern USA and will be moving through OK & TX in 2023.
