String Auditions

Bachelor of Music in String Performance (Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass)

  • Any two contrasting works, or two individual movements of works, from the standard repertoire, by two different composers. The two selections can consist of movements from聽sonatas, concertos, concert pieces, shorter repertoire pieces, showpieces, or etudes. Only one etude may be used as an audition piece. No jazz or popular styles are allowed. You聽may bring an accompanist if you聽wish, but it is not required.
  • One scale in major and minor, in the key of the candidate鈥檚 choice. Three聽octaves for violin and viola, four聽octaves for cello and two聽octaves for double bass.聽

Auditioning candidates may be asked to perform a small portion of basic sight-reading.

Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance

  • One solo work (two for masters) or individual movements of works from the standard repertoire, one orchestral excerpt and one etude or technical exercise. No scales are needed. The selection(s) can consist of movements of sonatas, concertos, concert pieces, shorter repertoire pieces or showpieces. No jazz or popular styles. Candidates may bring an accompanist if they wish, but it is not required.

Auditioning candidates may be asked to perform a small portion of basic sight-reading.

Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, Music Industry, Music Therapy and Bachelor of Music in Composition and Media Composition聽

Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
