Required Officer and University Advisor Trainings

As part of the student organization registration process officers (i.e., President and Treasurer) and University Advisors are required to complete the following trainings:

Presidents and Treasurers

  • 2025 to 2026 Recognized Student Organization (RSO) Officer Training
  • Decisions: Alcohol and Other Drugs course (i.e., alcohol safety training)
  • Hazing Prevention training

University Advisors

  • Decisions: Alcohol & Other Drugs course (i.e., alcohol safety training)

Proof of Completion

Decisions: Alcohol and Other Drugs Course

  • The President is required to upload the certificate of completion for the Decisions: Alcohol and Other Drugs course, for each officer and university advisor to the 2025 to 2026 Student Organization Registration form.

RSO Officer Orientation

  • Matador Involvement Center (MIC) staff will confirm officers have completed the RSO Officer Orientation. The President is not required to upload a certificate of completion or otherwise notify the MIC that an officer has completed the RSO Officer Orientation.

Hazing Prevention Training

  • The President is required to upload the certificate of completion for the Hazing Prevention 101 course, for each officer to the 2025 to 2026 Student Organization Registration form.

Note: If the organization has already completed the registration process for the 2025 to 2026 academic year, but there are new officers taking on the role of President and/or Treasurer, the President DOES NOT need to provide the certificates of completion for the Decisions: Alcohol and Other Drugs course or the Hazing 101 course. MIC staff will check the training completion report, to confirm whether the new officer(s) has completed the required training. Please email micclubs@csun.edu if you have questions.

2025 to 2026 RSO Officer Orientation

The RSO Officer Orientation includes important information about the Matador Involvement Center, University policy and procedures, and the privileges and benefits of being a recognized student organization (RSO).

The orientation is available through Canvas. The President and Treasurer can self-enroll through the course link.

Alcohol Safety Training Requirement

CSU Executive Order 1068 requires the President, Treasurer, and University advisor(s) to complete an alcohol safety training annually.

The Matador Involvement Center requires officers and university advisors to complete the training as part of the student organization registration process, to ensure the training is completed as required by Executive Order 1068.

There are two (2) courses available for officers and university advisors to complete:

  • Decisions: Alcohol and Other Drugsâ„¢ – Comprehensive 2025 (90-minutes)
  • Decisions: Alcohol and Other Drugsâ„¢ – Level 2 2025 (30-minutes)

Officers and university advisors only need to complete one (1) of the Decisions: Alcohol and Other Drugs courses to meet the training requirement.

  • If an officer or university advisor is completing the Decisions: Alcohol & Other Drugs course for the first time using their ¿ì»îÁÖÐÔÏ¢ credentials. Only the Comprehensive course will be listed on the login page, in this case the officer and/or university advisor must complete the Comprehensive course. After completing the Comprehensive course, the officer and/or university advisor DO NOT have to complete the Level 2 course.
  • If an officer or university advisor previously completed the Decisions: Alcohol & Other Drugs course, using their ¿ì»îÁÖÐÔÏ¢ credentials. Both courses may be listed on the login page, in this case, the officer and/or university advisor will only need to complete the Level 2 course. After completing the Level 2 course, the officer and/or university advisor DO NOT have to complete the Comprehensive course.

Hazing Prevention Training

Effective July 1, 2025, the requires officers (i.e., Presidents and Treasurers) of recognized student organizations to complete hazing prevention training annually.

Beginning with the 2025 to 2026 Student Organization Registration process, the President and Treasurer will be required to complete the hazing prevention training offered by the Matador Involvement Center, as part of the recognition process. The hazing prevention training will be available Friday August 1, 2025 for officers to complete.

There are additional hazing prevention modules available to the ¿ì»îÁÖÐÔÏ¢ community, including:

  1. Fraternity and Sorority Life
  2. Athletics
  3. Creative and Performing Arts
  4. Hazing Prevention: It’s Everyone’s Responsibility—Faculty and Staff Edition

Currently officers are not required to complete these additional trainings. However, the MIC strongly recommends students complete the additional trainings that apply to their specific organization type for hazing prevention education specific to the organization.
