BEING听MICHELLE: a film screening and panel discussion

The Minor in Disability Studies is听pleased to announce a screening of the film听听followed by a panel discussion and reception. This widely celebrated and award-winning film follows the journey of a Deaf woman with autism who survived incarceration and abuse in a system that refused to accommodate her needs. The screening and panel discussion that follow will underscore the importance of Deaf/disability justice across campus and in our communities.听 Watch the film and enjoy the talkback!
Meet the panelists:听 Atin and Mae Mehra, the film's directors; Prof. Jevon Whetter, Deaf Studies; Dr. Megan Benton, University Counseling Services, neurodivergence and disability specializations; Dr. Alison Freeman, University Counseling Services; Sara Clifton, Deaf, Disabled, and Elderly Survivor Advocate; Prof. Bruce Zucker,听an attorney and a professor of Criminology and Justice Studies. He also advocates for special needs students, representing them in matters related听to enforcing their rights with school districts, colleges, and universities.
