Advisement
For undergraduate & graduate students in Mechanical Engineering, our department is focused on helping you navigate the advanced studies and research opportunities available with your program. Questions that may come up like course selection, research pursuits, and thesis or dissertation work can be answered by staff and faculty within the department.

Student Services Center/EOP Satellite
The Center provides comprehensive student support services for certain Undergraduate Engineering and Computer Science students, and serves as a satellite office of the Educational Opportunity Program to support the needs of first-generation, economically and educationally disadvantaged students.
Registration Holds
Registration holds prevent students from enrolling in classes. Before registering, clear all holds.
- Undergraduate students with advisement holds must contact an academic advisor in their designated advisement center for the college of their major. Non-EOP Exploratory majors must contact the Matador Advising Hub. EOP Exploratory majors must contact the Advising Resource Center/EOP.
- Graduate and credential students should contact their graduate or credential program coordinator.
- Students with financial holds must immediately pay their account balance in full to be eligible to register.
- All students will have a 鈥淭itle IX (T9)鈥 registration hold. Students must complete the online training before they can enroll in classes.

Permission numbers do no correct the below registration errors.听 If you encounter one of these errors, follow the link for information on how to correct the error:
- Exception Requests听- If you have not completed one (or more) of the pre-requisite requirements for a class, approval听 from the Department Chair is required in order to receive a permission number.

- Extra Unit Requests听- If registering for a class will take you beyond your unit cap for the semester, an听听request will be required
- Missing Transcripts听- Department policy requires that all transfer coursework be present on your 快活林性息 record (including "in progress classes") to be considered as part of your program.听听
- Missing transcripts should be sent to Admissions and Records for processing
- Unarticulated Courses听- If a course you have taken does not give you credit in your program, a course substitution evaluation must be submitted to have the class reviewed for equivalency.
- A copy of the syllabus for the course to be reviewed should be emailed to the听Department Office听for processing
- Time Conflicts听- If there is a time overlap between one or more classes (even by 1 minute) a听听request will be required
Department Policy: Prerequisite Coursework
Effective May 19, 2014, the Mechanical Engineering Department at 快活林性息 only accepts course substitution requests from matriculated students (those enrolled in a 快活林性息 degree program) who must repeat a course after their third attempt at 快活林性息, or in cases where the student has exhausted his/her grade forgiveness and averaging units.
Mechanical Engineering majors may take lower division, articulated courses at colleges offering such courses without the need for pre-approval. Course substitution forms are not required for articulated courses as these classes will be automatically incorporated into the student's record after an official transcript is provided to and processed by the Office of Admissions and Records. For a list of articulated courses, visit听.
This policy supersedes the College of Engineering and Computer Science pre-approval requirement.
The Mechanical Engineering department policy requires that prerequisite courses appear on a student鈥檚 Degree Progress Report (DPR) with a passing grade prior to a student being able to enroll in the subsequent courses. A course that is not articulated with 快活林性息 courses requires prior approval and the submission of a detailed syllabus for the determination of whether such course could be substituted on a student鈥檚 DPR.
*Transfer coursework requires a grade of "C" or higher in order to be used as part of the BSME program.
**In order to have your DPR updated with coursework you have taken off campus (even those that are currently in progress), official transcripts should be turned in to the office of Admissions and Records for processing.
**A list of articulated (pre-approved) coursework can be found at assist.org.听 If a class is not listed on this website, it will require pre-approval from the Department Chair before the class can be used as part of your program.听 See section regarding Course Substitution Pre-Approvals in this drop down menu.
If you are interested in taking coursework off campus which is not articulated, you will need to have pre-approval from the Department Chair before it can be used as part the BSME program.听
To have the class reviewed, an email should be submitted to听with a copy of the class syllabus as a PDF attachment.听 The body of the email should include your name, your 9 digit 快活林性息 ID number, as well as what class you are requesting pre-approval for.听
All pre-approvals and course substitutions are made on a case by case basis, and all decisions are made by the Department Chair.听 Office staff does not have a list of pre-approved courses that can be used for credit.
