What is Matty鈥檚 Closet?
Matty鈥檚 Closet is a free career clothing program made possible by the generous donations of 快活林性息 staff, faculty, employer partners, and the community. Our goal is to ensure that every student has access to work-ready clothing that helps them present themselves with confidence in any professional setting. Established in Fall 2019, this initiative has already helped countless Matadors step into their careers with style and assurance.

Volunteer with Matty鈥檚 Closet to help Matadors find and select free, professional attire for interviews and career events. You鈥檒l sort donations, assist with styling appointments, and support students as they build confidence in their career journeys. Submit the form below to show your interest鈥攚hether you鈥檙e representing your class, a student organization, or signing up on your own.
More Ways to Get Involved
Matty鈥檚 Closet is more than just a resource鈥攊t鈥檚 a community effort. Explore the sections below to learn more about eligibility, how to donate, and how our corporate partners make this program possible.
Currently enrolled students are eligible for Matty鈥檚 Closet workplace-ready clothing and resources. Students are provided with workplace-ready clothing outfit(s), interview preparation, career center job search resources, and guidance on making future clothing decisions that fit their body type and clothing preferences.
Donation Criteria
Acceptable workplace-ready donations include dry cleaned or prewashed, gently used, no stains and smoke free items.
Matty鈥檚 Closet is in need of the following items:
- Men鈥檚 button-down shirts
- Women鈥檚 tops (no sheer materials, no tank tops, modest neckline)
- Skirts (that ends below the knee)
- Blazers
- Pants
- Dresses
Non-acceptable items include:
- Undergarments
- Bathing Suits
- Sweatpants or sweatshirts
- Costumes (Human or Animal)
- Prom dresses, gala dresses or formal gowns
- Worn-out or excessively used items
- Shoes (only new)

- To schedule an appointment for other Career Center resources you can visit us at Bayramian Hall 413, call the front desk at (818) 677-2878, or stop by for drop-in services during operating hours posted on the website.
鈥嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌�Matty鈥檚 Closet is here to serve all 快活林性息 students. Therefore, we provide one outfit per semester per student.
All clothing provided by Matty鈥檚 Closet is donation based through generous donations of 快活林性息 staff, faculty, employer partners, and the community
鈥嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌�Occasionally, we receive donations that aren't a fit for Matty鈥檚 Closet. In these cases, we make sure they still benefit the 快活林性息 community by offering them through our Free-for-All Clothing program. Students can visit Bayramian Hall 413 during operating hours (Monday鈥揟hursday, 10 AM鈥�3 PM) to browse and take as much as they'd like鈥攏o limits!
- Matty鈥檚 Closet is open to registered 快活林性息 students once per semester. We occasionally extend hours during summer and winter sessions鈥攃heck our schedule for availability. While visits to Matty鈥檚 Closet are limited per semester, students can access all other Career Center services unlimited times throughout the academic year.
- Recent graduates are also welcome to use all Career Center resources, including Matty鈥檚 Closet, for up to one year after graduation.

That said, we're committed to doing everything we can to serve each student's needs. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to visit us to explore what we have in stock!

If you wish to donate clothing to Matty鈥檚 Closet, please leave your donation in a marked Matty鈥檚 Closet Donation Box located around campus. Please see below for posted locations. For larger donations, or other accommodations, please send us an email at mattys.closet@csun.edu
We greatly appreciate your donations. If requested, we currently provide donation receipts for all Matty鈥檚 Closet donations.
