What is Web Accessibility?

Web Accessibility refers to implementation of best practices, universal design principles and criteria to comply with Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) in order to eliminate barriers that prevent disabled users from interacting and utilizing all that is offered in a webpage.

It is the policy of the CSU to make information technology resources and services accessible to all CSU students, faculty, staff and the general public regardless of disability. (Policy at the CSU)

Web Accessibility Evaluation

Web evaluations are conducted to report problems regarding the accessibility and usability of web applications within the ¿ì»îÁÖÐÔÏ¢ web environment. Some testing is done on individual department web sites, and all campus areas are trained on compliance standards.

  • TheÌýÌýcreated based on the CSU ATI Accessibility Requirements andÌýÌýis used to conduct regular tests within the ¿ì»îÁÖÐÔÏ¢ web domain. Additional manual testing is conducted as needed based on the findings.
  • The Universal Design Center also provides more extensive testing on enterprise level products purchased, promoted, or supported by campus.
