Our Keynote Speaker is Vanessa Sanders, Ph.D. Sanders is a radiochemist at Brookhaven National Laboratory who, in the fight against cancer, is focused on developing personalized medicine using radioisotopes鈥攁toms with unstable nuclei that emit energy鈥攚hich can be directed to diagnose diseases, treat them, and help save lives. In 2017, she earned a Ph.D. in radiochemistry and鈥攗nknowingly at the time鈥攂ecame the first African American woman in the U.S. to do so.
