Science Teaching Credential

快活林性息 offers the California Preliminary Single-Subject Credential in General Science, Biology. Chemistry, Geoscience, and Physics. The General Science credential authorizes the teaching of K-8 integrated science courses as well as introductory courses in general, life, and physical science. The Biology, Chemistry, Geoscience, and Physics Credentials authorize the teaching of these subjects, respectively, at the high-school level, in addition to authorizing the teaching of general science courses.聽

All Single Subject Credentials include an English Learner-ELAS level, which allows the holder to teach English learners in their subject-matter classrooms. For authorizations to teach in English Language Development (ELD), English as Second Language (ESL), or bilingual classrooms, please see our聽Bilingual Authorization听补苍诲听CTEL/CLAD Certificate听笔谤辞驳谤补尘蝉.

Professor Norman Herr coordinates the credential and master鈥檚 programs in science education. 聽Dr. Herr earned his Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and has worked as a scientist, high school science teacher, college science instructor, science education consultant, and professor of science education and educational technology. Dr. Herr is author of The Sourcebook for Teaching Science, Hands-On Physics Activities with Real-Life Application, Hands-On Chemistry Activities with Real-Life Applications, and numerous other resources for science educators. His research interests focus on Computer Supported Collaborative Science (CSCS). 聽

Professor Foley works on issues of Educational Technology and Science Education including helping students identify and critique pseudoscience and junk science and effective uses of technology. He coordinates the Master鈥檚 degree program in Educational Technology as well as the Accelerated Credential (ACT) program. He is also a PI on the聽聽and the聽听(颁厂尝颁).听
